Remembering #Kodak as a #brand icon.

Have you ever brought your girlfriend or boyfriend over to visit the parents and in shock and horror, you find your Mom sharing intimate photos of you growing up from the old family album?  I am sure that naked bum photo of you on the lawn at the age of two or those long blue overalls as a 5-year old with the Kool-Aid mustache was quite embarrassing.  We all had them.  Eastman Kodak has had a special part in our lives and it is certainly surreal to hear that they have filed for Chapter 11 after 130 years in business.

Below are some of my favorite Kodak Advertisements from growing up.  These had emotion and to me, that was one of the brand's greatest equities.  How about your favorites?

This new #Snickers ad for PB Squares would be awesome for Shark Week on the #Discovery channel.

So the taste of human flesh is better when they eat snickers peanut butter squares first?  I guess the sharks know best.  Don't go near the water after eating one I suppose.

W+K Amsterdam creates intriguing ad for #Heineken's "Open Your World" - #creativeads

I am still trying to catch up on the amazing ads that have been produced since I left for Afghanistan.  Now on leave, I am doing my own digging to see what has been introduced by brands and their agencies.

 

Campaigns such as Heineken's "Open your world," are what I enjoy seeing.  W+K Amsterdam does a wonderful job not only by producing an ad, but developing the characters in it through a series of short films.  The ad itself stimulates the mind.  Don't miss each of the elements.

The dutch alternative pop band became a quick hit in 2008.  They opened for Amy Winehouse and Katy Perry.  They have also been used to promote the Apple iPod and in TV shows such as Mad Men, Chuck and Gossip Girl.

New video from @healthebay called "The Majestic Plastic Bag" #creativity #environment

A mockumentary designed to spread the word about the problem with plastic bag pollution and the California Senate bill to reduce it at the end of the month.  Although a bit long, it tells the story of a bag and the damage they can do.

Can this "Finding Nemo" type ad work for #ATT's "Rethink Possible" campaign?

Here is the new spot for the AT&T "Rethink Possible" campaign that will be airing during ESPN's 3D soccer coverage and at 3d movie showings throughout the country. It is cute, but does the expanding boundaries and embracing discovery get lost here?

POWERFUL - Amnesty International: Death to the Death Penalty - Wax sculptures. - TBWA Paris

This was pretty powerful.    The copy at the end of the minute reads "139 countries have wiped out the death penalty.  Only 58 are left to convince."  Besides being the organization's logo, the candle at the end provides for great symbolism -- Hope.
